SERVICES

Utilizing the latest advanced aerial platforms, commonly referred to as UAVs or drones, amazing shots from virtually any perspective that were once cost prohibitive have become a safe and affordable reality. Record the action from just a few feet above eye-level for a cinematic look, from several hundred feet for a birds-eye view, or anywhere in between. An HD video downlink enables images to be monitored in real time, providing full control of camera angles and framing while still in the air.

Aerial photography and videography are extremely effective marketing or documentation tools for:

  • Residential real estate listings
  • Commercial property listings
  • Outdoor weddings
  • Campus tours
  • Corporate or community events
  • Tourist destinations
  • Recreational facilities
  • Live sporting events
  • Local TV advertising
  • Social media campaigns
  • Construction progress updates
  • Industrial inspections
  • Roof & gutter inspections
  • Insurance claim photos
  • Custom applications

Our Ultra HD cameras employ 3-axis gimbal stabilization to ensure that every image is the highest quality available. Aircraft also incorporate redundant Global Positioning Systems, altimeters and gyroscopes to steady the craft in winds up to 25 mph. This allows the remote pilot to concentrate on obtaining the best shot.

Adhering to both FAA regulations and prudent safety practices, we maintain a line of sight with the UAV at all times. In the unlikely event of a malfunction, a fail-safe return to home function will take over and safely land the craft.

SkyView Aerial Imagery can also provide the most commonly required post-production editing and enhancements. Videos scenes can be trimmed and rearranged, cropped, time-adjusted, visually-enhanced or special effects added. Custom graphics, titles, subtitles and audio can also be included.

VALUE PRICING

The environment at each location is always somewhat unique, and the types of photos or video requested can vary widely. If were to develop “standard packages” to try and cover every situation, we would likely be overcharging many clients. For that reason, we prefer to quote each job individually.

As a guideline, most aerial video for real estate MLS listings can be delivered for under $250. Events photography and videography usually prices out at less than $600 for a 4-hour window of coverage. Of course, travel requirements and the amount of image editing or enhancements wanted can affect the price.

Because we are freelance operators, we incur lower overhead expense than larger companies. We pass those savings on to our clients through lower fees.

If you send us an email or give us a call at 302-584-8725, we will evaluate your specific requirements and provide you with a firm quotation promptly.

FAQ

Are these drones legal to operate?

Absolutely. The commercial use of UAVs is regulated under the new (June 2016) Part 107 of the Federal Aviation Regulations for drones weighing less than 55 pounds. SkyView Aerial Imagery has been certified, and is compliant with all aspects of those rules.

Are small UAVs safe to fly?

As long as they are operated by knowledgeable and responsible pilots observing standard flight precautions, they are absolutely safe. The professional grade drones used by SkyView Aerial Imagery also incorporate several pilot assistance and fail-safe functions that help insure the safety of people and property.

What image resolution do the drones produce?

UHD videos can be recorded up to 4096 x 2160 pixels at 24 or 25 frames per second, or 3840 x 2160 pixels at 24, 25 or 30 frames per second.

HD still photos  can be as large as 4000 x 3000 pixels (12 megapixels).

How does the weather affect flight plans?

For the safety of all involved, we do not fly in any type of precipitation, or if wind speeds exceed 25 mph. While the drone’s batteries are very robust, sub-freezing temperatures can shorten safe flying times significantly. Multiple-battery flights may be needed to achieve the images desired.

Light conditions may also be a factor, depending on the types of shots required. Sunny days are good for wide landscape panoramas, but the softer light of an overcast day is usually preferred for shoots where people are the primary focus.

What altitude can these aircraft reach?

While the UAVs can easily and safely fly several thousand feet high, the FAA limits altitudes to 400 feet. They also require remote pilots to maintain line of sight with the aircraft at all times, so visibility is always a limiting factor. Practically speaking, most shots are best captured from a few hundred feet or less.

How long does a flight usually take?

The drone can fly about 25 minutes on a single battery, but for safety reasons we will land at 30% remaining capacity. That means 15-20 minutes per battery. We do carry additional charged batteries for multiple flights, if required. However, we almost always get the needed shots in one flight.

Are there places that drones cannot be flown?

Yes. The FAA prohibits flight within 5 miles of an airport, as well as other areas designated as restricted airspace. There may also be physical objects within the area to be photographed that limit access to some or all of the space.

SkyView Aerial Imagery will research the requested area in advance, to insure that legal restrictions and safety guidelines can be adhered to.

Are the drones noisy? Do they emit pollutants?

No, they are quiet and non-polluting. At ground level, our UAVs are no louder than an idling car engine. From around 50 feet or higher they can barely be heard. Because their motors are electric and powered by Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries, emissions and carbon footprint is very close to zero.
